National Apprenticeship Week 2026

Celebrating alternative pathways and the impact of apprenticeships

National Apprenticeship Week (9–15 February 2026) is a nationwide celebration that brings together businesses and apprentices to highlight the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, organisations and the wider economy.

To mark the week, we are sharing a video featuring a former pupil who reflects on his experience of applying to both university and apprenticeship programmes. In the video, he speaks candidly about weighing up his options, navigating the application process and ultimately securing an apprenticeship beginning in September 2026.

He explains why he chose the apprenticeship route and how it offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while continuing to develop professionally and academically. His story provides valuable insight for current pupils considering the range of pathways available beyond Sixth Form.

At Cheltenham College, we are committed to supporting pupils in exploring a broad spectrum of post-school opportunities, ensuring they are well informed and confident in choosing the route that best suits their ambitions and strengths.
