Health & Well-being

A Culture of Care

At Cheltenham College, wellbeing is embedded in daily life. Every pupil is supported by a wide network of professionals, from medical staff and specialist therapists to Housemasters, Tutors and Matrons, who work closely together to ensure each child feels known, safe and supported.

Our approach is proactive and personal. Through strong relationships and close partnership with families, we aim to provide the right support at the right time, enabling pupils to thrive both physically and emotionally.

The Health Centre

Located at the heart of campus, the Health Centre provides high-quality care to all pupils.

Open six days a week, our experienced nursing team manage illness, injury and chronic conditions, and respond to emergencies across the site. During Rugby and Hockey seasons, qualified First Aiders provide additional pitch-side support.

We also offer Physiotherapy within a dedicated treatment space, supporting pupils with injury management and safe return to sport.

The Health Centre is a welcoming place where pupils can drop in for advice or reassurance. Working closely with House staff and the Floreat Programme, the team provide fully joined-up care across College life.

Student Support Services

Sometimes young people need someone slightly outside their immediate circle to talk things through with. Our Student Support Services offer a calm, welcoming space where pupils can pause, reflect and feel heard.

Based within the Health Centre, our experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists provide thoughtful, personalised support. Pupils can self-refer or be guided by a member of staff, with sessions tailored to individual needs. whether managing anxiety, exam pressure or friendship challenges.

With dedicated emotional support embedded in College life, pupils know they never have to face difficulties alone.

Houses: Daily Pastoral Care

Wellbeing is rooted in the strong, supportive relationships built within our Houses.

Each pupil is surrounded by a genuine web of care that includes their Housemaster or Housemistress, Tutor and Matron, alongside House Tutors and boarding staff. Tutors meet pupils individually every two weeks, creating regular space to talk about academic progress, personal development and how they are feeling more generally.

Our Houses provide a safe and welcoming environment where pupils can relax, build friendships and feel part of an extended family.
